Spotify Free is ad-supported music at no cost. New Premium customers can get Premium Individual for $0 for 3 months, then $12.99/mo (new customers only; offer ends July 6, 2026). This is the cheapest way to try Premium.
Split a Duo or Family plan with your household
Premium Duo is $18.99/mo for 2 accounts (about $9.50/person) and Premium Family is $21.99/mo for up to 6 accounts (as low as ~$3.67/person in a full household). Both require all members to live at the same address.
Enrolled in school? Use Premium Student

HOW IT WORKS

Spotify’s US Premium plans page lists four paid tiers — Individual ($12.99/mo), Duo ($18.99/mo), Family ($21.99/mo), and Student ($6.99/mo) — plus a free ad-supported tier. There is no military, veteran, or first-responder plan anywhere on the page or in plan navigation, and no military eligibility path for any tier.

The only identity-verified discount is Premium Student. Spotify uses SheerID, a third-party service, to confirm you’re enrolled at an eligible US Title IV accredited college or university and are 18 or older. Student access runs up to 12 months per verification, and students can re-verify once every 12 months for a maximum of 3 additional 12-month periods (about four years total). There is no equivalent path that accepts a military ID, DD-214, or ID.me / GovX / WeSalute military verification — Spotify does not use those for any service-based discount.

Spotify’s community forum has closed multiple military, veteran, and first-responder discount requests, citing Idea Exchange guidelines that bar pricing and subscription requests. That indicates no military discount is in development through that channel. Treat any "Spotify military promo code" from a coupon site as invalid, and note that ID.me’s "Does Spotify Have Military Discounts?" page is a marketing landing page, not evidence of a Spotify partnership.

For the cheapest real route: Spotify Free costs $0 if you can tolerate ads. New customers can run Premium Individual free for 3 months (then $12.99/mo; ends July 6, 2026).
