Verification is handled by SheerID through your free Ariat Insider account. You select "Military Discount 10% — Get Verified" on your account page and complete the SheerID flow. Many applicants are verified instantly; if not, Ariat says it will email your eligibility status, typically in under 20 minutes (though it notes verification "may take a few hours"). In some cases additional documentation is required. Ariat states it uses your information only to confirm eligibility, does not sell it, and that SheerID does not store uploaded documents. Ariat’s official source does not state how often re-verification is required, so don’t assume it is one-time.
The most important practical caveat is that the 10% cannot stack with sales, clearance, or coupon codes. Ariat runs frequent site-wide sales and a large Sale section, so a sale price may beat 10% off full price — check both before buying. The discount also can’t be used on gift cards and is US-only (APO/FPO shipping, but no territories or international).
Two eligibility notes worth repeating: National Guard isn’t named separately (Reserve is), and spouse/dependent eligibility isn’t officially confirmed despite "for you and your family" marketing — SheerID verifies the member’s own status. If you also qualify as a first responder, Ariat runs a parallel 10% First Responders Discount.
