GM Military & Veteran Discount
A below-MSRP program price on a new Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, or Cadillac for active duty, veterans, retirees, and a sponsored spouse — verified through ID.me.
General Motors offers eligible military members and veterans a special below-MSRP program price on a new Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, or Cadillac through the GM Military Appreciation Program. It is open to active duty, reservists, National Guard, veterans, and retirees across all five service branches, plus a sponsored spouse. You validate your service through ID.me at gmmilitaryappreciation.com, then request an Authorization Number — you get two a year, each good for 90 days — and bring it to a participating GM dealer along with a copy of your driver’s license.
GM does not publish a flat percentage or dollar amount for this program; the savings are a model-by-model program price below MSRP, and the official terms note the offer is "not available with some other offers." So treat any "exact $ off" or "stacks with X cash" claims you see elsewhere with caution, and confirm the real number with your dealer.
This is an independent guide to help you use the offer. We’re not affiliated with General Motors, and GM controls the terms and can change or withdraw the program at any time. Always confirm current details on GM’s official program site before you buy.

WHO QUALIFIES
GM’s Military Appreciation Program lets eligible service members, veterans, retirees, and a sponsored spouse buy or lease an eligible new Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, or Cadillac at a special program price below MSRP, with military status verified through ID.me. GM publishes no fixed percentage or dollar amount — the savings are a model-specific program price set by the dealer.
- Active-duty military across all five branches (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard), validated through ID.me.
- Veterans of the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard.
- Military retirees.
- Reserve and National Guard members.
- A sponsored spouse qualifies only as a "Sponsored Purchaser" under an eligible participant — not independently.
- Dependents and children are not listed as eligible for the Military Appreciation Program (GM runs a separate Family First program for employees and their families).
- First responders, educators, and the general public are not eligible under this program — GM runs separate First Responder and Educator appreciation programs with their own terms.

HOW TO REDEEM
Online at www.gm.com
- Go to gmmilitaryappreciation.comStart at gmmilitaryappreciation.com (the gmmilitarydiscount.com entry point routes into the same program) and create an account.
- Validate your military status through ID.meSign in to — or create — an ID.me account and confirm your military status. GM uses ID.me to validate eligibility; for the ID.me process itself, GM points to ID.me/about.
- Request your Authorization Number ("Go Code")Once validated, select "Get Authorization Number" to request your Authorization Number. GM emails an electronic confirmation when it is issued.
- Browse the current Eligible Vehicles listCheck the live eligible-vehicle list at gmmilitaryappreciation.com/vehicles. The list changes over time without notice and some models have limited availability, so confirm your model is currently eligible.
- Mind the authorization limitsYou may request up to two Authorization Numbers per year, and each is valid for 90 days from issuance. The dealer must have the number before delivery.
In store
- Confirm the dealer participatesDealer participation is voluntary — not every GM dealer honors the program. Call ahead to confirm your chosen GM dealer participates before you go.
- Bring your Authorization Number before deliveryProvide your Authorization Number to the dealer before completing the purchase or lease — the dealer must have it prior to delivery.
- Present a copy of your driver’s licenseShow a copy of your driver’s license (license number redacted) displaying the ZIP Code and Date of Birth you used to obtain the Authorization Number — these must match.
- The dealer applies the program priceThe dealer applies the below-MSRP program price to your eligible new Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, or Cadillac. GM publishes no set figure, so this is a dealer-quoted, model-specific price.
- Plan to keep the vehicleIf you buy with cash or a loan, you must own and retain the vehicle for at least six months from delivery. The vehicle must be for personal, non-commercial use.
HOW IT WORKS
GM validates eligibility through ID.me. You create or log in to an ID.me account at gmmilitaryappreciation.com and confirm your military status; once validated, you can request an Authorization Number (the "Go Code"). It is the Authorization Number — not your ID.me login itself — that the dealer needs, and it expires 90 days after issuance. You may request up to two per year. GM also conducts periodic audits and may request documentation (military ID, a marriage license for a sponsored spouse, title or registration) to confirm eligibility, so keep your supporting records.
At the dealer, the program works as a price, not a coupon: bring your Authorization Number before delivery and present a copy of your driver’s license showing the ZIP Code and Date of Birth used to obtain the number, which must match. The dealer then applies the program price below MSRP to your eligible new vehicle. Because participation is voluntary, not every GM dealer honors the program — call ahead. If you buy with cash or a loan, plan to keep the vehicle at least six months, and note it must be for personal, non-commercial use.
One thing to watch: many coupon, dealer, and aggregator pages assert specifics that GM’s own sources do not publish — a flat "$500 additional" allowance, stacking with Customer Cash and Loyalty Cash, SiriusXM/OnStar perks, or guaranteed Corvette eligibility. GM’s Rules and the GM Financial Vehicle Purchase Program page publish no dollar figure, list no combinable incentives, and guarantee no specific model; they say only that the offer is "not available with some other offers" and that the eligible-vehicle list "may change at any time." Treat those specific claims as unverified and confirm the real, model-specific number with a participating dealer.
Exclusions & fine print
- No published discount amount. GM describes only a below-MSRP "program price"; it does not state a percentage or flat dollar figure. Any specific "$ off" figure on third-party pages is unverified.
- GM’s official terms state the offer is "not available with some other offers," and GM does not publish a list of combinable incentives. Aggregator claims that it stacks with Customer Cash, Loyalty Cash, or financing offers are not confirmed by GM’s primary sources — confirm with the dealer.
- New vehicles only, from a participating dealer. The eligible-vehicle list changes at any time without notice and some models have limited availability; specific model eligibility (e.g. Corvette) is not guaranteed.
- Authorization Numbers are limited to two per year, each valid 90 days, and the dealer must have the number before delivery.
- For cash or loan purchases, you must own and retain the vehicle for at least six months from delivery.
- Personal, non-commercial use only — the vehicle cannot be titled to a business (living-trust and co-buyer rules apply).
- Dealer documentation fees are capped at a maximum of $75 (with stated state-law / uniform-policy exceptions).
- The current program cycle requires taking new retail delivery by January 4, 2027 — this date is cycle-bound and changes each cycle.
- The participant must reside in the United States. Misuse (e.g. selling an Authorization Number) carries sanctions up to a 5-year suspension plus repayment.
