PetSmart Military & Veteran Discount

PetSmart has no merchandise military discount — but it offers 10% off grooming (Tuesdays) and 10% off PetsHotel stays, verified in store with a military ID or DD214. Here’s what’s real.

PetSmart does not have a military or veteran discount on regular merchandise — there’s no "10% off pet food and supplies" offer online or in store, despite what some coupon sites claim. What PetSmart does offer are two service discounts, both 10% and both redeemed in person: 10% off Grooming Salon visits on Tuesdays, and 10% off any overnight PetsHotel stay.

There’s no ID.me, GovX, or online checkout step. You simply show ID to a Services associate at the salon or PetsHotel desk. For grooming, PetSmart’s eligibility is broad and explicit — Reserves, National Guard, active members of all five armed services, retired members, and their spouses — and it accepts an expired military ID or a DD214 as proof. A Treats Rewards membership (free) is required for the grooming discount. The PetsHotel discount also covers state and local first responders.

WHO QUALIFIES

PetSmart has no military or veteran discount on merchandise — online or in store. It does offer two in-store SERVICE discounts, both 10%: Grooming Salon 10% off on Tuesdays only (Treats Rewards required) and PetsHotel 10% off any overnight stay. Both are verified in person by showing ID to a Services associate — no ID.me/GovX/SheerID and no online redemption. Coupon-site "10–25% off via ID.me" claims are inaccurate.

Grooming (10% Tuesdays): active-duty service members of the five U.S. armed services (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard), Reserves, National Guard, any retired member, and spouses of any of these. PetSmart accepts an expired military ID or a DD214 as proof of service.
Separated veterans (non-retired): PetSmart names "actively serving" and "retired" members and accepts a DD214, but never uses the word "veteran." That DD214 acceptance points to practical eligibility, but it is not explicitly stated — confirm at the salon.

HOW IT WORKS

Verification is in person at the point of service, not through any third-party platform. PetSmart does not use ID.me, GovX, SheerID, or WeSalute for these discounts — ID.me’s own site confirms it is not aware of a PetSmart military discount, so any "verify with ID.me at PetSmart checkout" claim is inaccurate. For grooming, you show a military ID (expired accepted) or a DD214 to a salon associate; for PetsHotel, government-issued ID to a Services associate. A free Treats Rewards membership is required for grooming. There’s no annual re-verification because there’s no account-linked status — you present ID each time.

The two offers have distinct rules. Grooming is Tuesdays only, requires Treats Rewards, and covers grooming services and add-ons but excludes merchandise and all other services. PetsHotel is 10% off any overnight stay, one discount per stay, and excludes add-ons, Doggie Day Camp, and Bundle Packages.
