There’s a special military/veteran leisure rate (it varies by property and date, and unlike many discount rates it still earns points), and, also free limited-time Gold Elite status plus 2,500 bonus points in Choice Privileges. Because hotels are rate-based, the “discount” is a variable gap, not a flat percentage — so the smart way to read this page is: claim the limited-time status while it lasts, then price-check the rate every trip.

Claim limited-time Gold Elite first — it’s a fast, high-value action. Active duty, reserve, retired, National Guard, and Coast Guard members can add military status to a Choice Privileges account and get free Gold Elite status (bonus points, late checkout, and more) plus 2,500 bonus points. While it’s active the status stacks on every booking regardless of which rate you pay, so it can be worth more than a single discounted night. It takes about two minutes and costs nothing.

HOW TO REDEEM

HOW IT WORKS

All the math below uses one baseline: a $120/night standard room for a 3-night leisure stay = $360 before tax, at a participating Choice brand (Comfort Inn, Quality Inn, Sleep Inn, Clarion, Cambria, and others). Hotel rates move constantly, so every figure is illustrative and stamped “as of June 16, 2026” — treat them as a way to compare paths, not as quotes.

Rule 1 — status stacks; rates don’t. Limited-time Gold Elite is the one status that layers on top of every booking while it’s active, because it’s status rather than a rate. The discounted rates — the military leisure rate, WeSalute 15%, and Pay Now & Save — are mutually exclusive, so you’re choosing one, not adding them up. This single distinction is the most important thing to understand about saving at Choice.

Rule 2 — the military rate still earns points. Many “discount” rates strip your loyalty earning; Choice’s military/veteran leisure rate does not. You keep earning Choice Privileges points and airline rewards on top of the lower rate — a real, under-reported advantage that makes the military rate more valuable than its sticker price alone, especially once you’ve claimed Gold (which boosts your points earning).

Rule 3 — you must be a Choice Privileges member and book direct. The leisure rate requires a (free) Choice Privileges membership, and both the rate and your status only attach when you book on choicehotels.com or the Choice app. Book through an OTA like Expedia and you forfeit the military rate and the points/status — this is the most common way travelers accidentally lose the benefit.

Rule 4 — WeSalute 15% is a paid path with one catch. WeSalute (formerly Veterans Advantage) gives a flat 15% off at Choice and still earns points, which on the $360 baseline is about $306. But it needs a paid WeSalute+ membership (~$10/mo) and it can’t combine with the non-refundable Pay Now & Save advance rate, so it pays off mainly for current members or frequent travelers — do the math against the military rate for your stay.

Rule 5 — leisure vs. official are different rates. The military/veteran leisure rate is for personal travel; if you’re a government or military employee or contractor on official business, use the separate government/military official rate (often at or near the federal per-diem). They live on the same Government & Military Rates page — pick the one that matches your trip, and bring proof of service for check-in either way.
