Hampton Inn Military & Veteran Discount
Hilton’s Military Family Rate (~10%, leisure) and a government per-diem rate for official travel — verified by ID at check-in.
Hampton Inn follows Hilton’s military rate structure, and there are really two different deals depending on why you are traveling. For a vacation or personal trip, the Military Family Rate gives a discount (commonly around 10%, though Hilton says it varies by hotel) to active, reserve, and retired U.S. and Canadian service members and their spouses and families — you book online or by phone, earn Hilton Honors points, and show a military ID at check-in. For official government or military travel, Hilton offers a per-diem rate capped at the local GSA per diem, for travelers with a government ID and orders.
Here is the honest part: the ~10% Military Family Rate is not automatically the cheapest for leisure — always compare it against Hilton Honors member rates, advance-purchase deals, and AAA or senior rates, then book the lowest as a Hilton Honors member so you still earn points. And there is no free elite status just for being military — that comes from co-branded Amex cards, not a military perk.
This is an independent guide. NavyWeek is not affiliated with Hilton or Hampton, which control these rates and can change them at any time.

HOW TO REDEEM
Online at www.hilton.com/en/hampton
- Search your Hampton and open special ratesOn Hilton.com or the Hilton Honors app, search your dates and open "Special Rates / Add special rate codes."
- Select the Government/Military rateChoose the Government/Military special rate — for leisure, request the "Military Family Rate" plan (or call 1-800-HONORS); for official travel, select the government/military per-diem rate.
- Log in as a Hilton Honors member and book directSign in as a Hilton Honors member so you earn points and elite-night credit, then book direct — third-party sites forfeit points and often the rate itself.
In store
- Show your ID at check-inBring a valid military ID for the Military Family Rate, or a government ID plus travel orders for the per-diem rate. Hilton verifies at the desk — there is no ID.me or GovX online gate.
HOW IT WORKS
Hilton does not use ID.me or GovX for these rates. You book direct with the military or government rate selected, then present a military ID (Family Rate) or a government ID plus travel orders (per diem) at check-in. Book direct and stay logged in as a Hilton Honors member to keep points and elite-night credit — the durable value here is loyalty status and points, not the one-night percentage.
On a two-night leisure stay at a ~$150/night Hampton, the ~10% Military Family Rate lands around $270 before tax — real, but a Hilton Honors member rate or advance-purchase deal sometimes undercuts it, so compare before you book. On official travel, the per-diem rate is usually the biggest saver in expensive markets; one Hilton example ran $97 versus a $179 rack rate, roughly 46% off. Rate codes never stack with each other, but Hilton Honors membership, points, and status do layer on any direct booking.
A couple of Hampton-specific bonuses come with the stay regardless of rate: free hot breakfast and the 100% Hampton Guarantee. And if hotel status matters to you long-term, chase it through the Hilton Honors Amex cards (Aspire for Diamond, Platinum for Gold) rather than expecting free elite status for military service — it is a credit-card perk, not a military benefit.
Exclusions & fine print
- The Military Family Rate is leisure-only — it is not valid for official government or military travel.
- The discount varies by hotel — the ~10% figure is a common average, not a guarantee.
- Rate codes do not stack — the Family Rate, Honors member rate, AAA, senior, and per-diem rates are mutually exclusive, so pick the single lowest.
- Per-diem rates may not earn Hilton Honors points — confirm at booking.
- There is no automatic free elite status for military — complimentary Gold/Diamond comes from co-branded Amex cards, not a military benefit.
