Hyundai Military & Veteran Discount
$500 toward a new Hyundai purchase or lease for active duty, Guard/Reserve, veterans of any era, retirees, and spouses — verified through ID.me, through December 31, 2026.
Yes — Hyundai has a real military discount. The Hyundai Military Program gives active duty, Reserve/National Guard, veterans, and retirees — or their spouse — a $500 bonus toward the purchase or lease of any eligible new Hyundai, from the Elantra to the Ioniq EVs. The current program runs January 7 through December 31, 2026, and eligibility is broader than most automakers’: every veteran qualifies, with no time-since-separation cutoff.
You verify online through ID.me on Hyundai’s Military Program page before you buy, then give the dealer the email address you verified with. The $500 isn’t handed to you as cash — on a finance contract it goes toward your down payment; on a lease, toward the amount due at signing or the cap cost.
This is an independent guide — NavyWeek isn’t affiliated with Hyundai Motor America or ID.me, and Hyundai can change or end the program at any time. Always confirm current terms on the official program page before you buy.

WHO QUALIFIES
The Hyundai Military Program gives active duty, Reserve/Guard, veterans, retirees, or their spouse a $500 bonus toward the purchase or lease of an eligible new Hyundai — verified through ID.me before purchase, through December 31, 2026.
- Active-duty U.S. military personnel.
- Reserve and National Guard members.
- Veterans of any era — Hyundai’s current terms set no time-since-separation limit, unlike many automakers.
- Military retirees.
- Spouses — Hyundai’s terms say the "Customer (or spouse)" must hold eligible military status at the commencement of the program period.
- Listed branches: Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, National Guard, and Reserves. Space Force is not listed, and surviving spouses / Gold Star families are not addressed in the official terms.
| Audience | Discount |
|---|---|
| Military — active duty, Reserve/Guard, veterans (any era), retirees — or their spouseToward the purchase or lease of an eligible new Hyundai. Not paid as cash: finance contracts apply it to the down payment; leases to the amount due at signing or cap-cost reduction. | $500 bonus |
HOW TO REDEEM
Online at www.hyundaiusa.com
- Pick your Hyundai and negotiate firstChoose your new Hyundai and negotiate your price as usual — the $500 is flat, so the bigger money is the deal you strike.
- Verify with ID.me before purchaseOn Hyundai’s Military Program page (hyundaiusa.com/us/en/special-programs/military), click the ID.me verification button and confirm your — or your spouse’s — military status. A physical military ID card alone is not accepted for the online check.
- Give the dealer your ID.me emailAfter successful verification, provide your Hyundai dealer the email address you used for ID.me verification — that is your proof of eligibility.
- Apply the $500 at signingThe dealer applies the bonus toward your down payment (finance) or amount due at signing / cap-cost reduction (lease). The vehicle must come out of dealer stock.
In store
- Verify online firstThe bonus is unlocked by ID.me verification on hyundaiusa.com before purchase — it is not issued at the dealership counter.
- Bring your verification email to the dealerGive the participating Hyundai dealer the email address you verified with on ID.me.
- Confirm how it lands on your contractOn a finance contract the $500 goes toward the down payment; on a lease, toward due-at-signing or cap-cost reduction. Ask the dealer to confirm in writing whether it applies on top of the month’s retail offers — Hyundai’s terms don’t say.
HOW IT WORKS
This is a flat manufacturer bonus, not a percentage discount, and it is applied on top of the price you negotiate. Hyundai’s terms are precise about where it lands: on a finance contract it must go toward the down payment; on a lease, toward the amount due at signing or capitalized-cost reduction. It is never paid out as cash, and the terms don’t say how an outright cash purchase is handled — ask the dealer before you assume. All new Hyundai models qualify, including the electrified line, SUVs, and sedans, but fleet, service-rental, and demo vehicles are excluded and the car must come from dealer stock.
Be careful with stacking claims. Hyundai’s official disclaimer names exactly two programs the bonus cannot combine with — the First Responders Program and Hyundai Circle plan sales — and says nothing either way about the national retail offers (APR specials, retail bonus cash) you see advertised. Several dealer sites claim the bonus "combines with most current offers," but that language is the dealers’, not Hyundai’s — get it confirmed in writing before you rely on it. One more correction worth knowing: ID.me’s own shop directory says it is "not aware" of a Hyundai military discount. That listing is stale — Hyundai’s official program page exists and uses ID.me itself as the verification partner. Trust hyundaiusa.com.
Because the $500 is flat and runs all year, the real lever is everything around it: negotiate your best price first, time the purchase to a strong retail-incentive month, and treat the bonus as the last line on the deal. If you also qualify for the First Responders Program or have Hyundai Circle access, compute each program’s total separately — they cannot combine with the military bonus — and take the single lowest.
Exclusions & fine print
- Not cash: the bonus is applied toward MSRP and "is not available for cash." Finance = down payment only; lease = due-at-signing or cap-cost reduction only. How a cash purchase is treated is not stated.
- Not combinable with the Hyundai First Responders Program or Hyundai Circle plan sales — the only incompatibilities Hyundai names.
- Whether it combines with Hyundai’s national retail offers (APR or bonus cash) is not stated in the official terms — confirm with your dealer before counting on it. Some dealer pages claim it does; Hyundai’s disclaimer doesn’t say so.
- Fleet, service-rental, and demo vehicles are excluded; the vehicle must be taken out of dealer stock.
- "Must pay sales tax" — the bonus does not reduce your tax bill.
- Program period is January 7 – December 31, 2026; not all applicants will qualify; void where prohibited.
