Fandango Military & Veteran Discount
Fandango has no military discount — here’s how service members actually save on movie tickets.
Fandango does not have its own military or veteran discount. Fandango is a movie-ticket marketplace, and it says so directly in its help center: military discount tickets are controlled by each theater, not by Fandango. At most, Fandango sometimes shows a theater’s own military-priced ticket at checkout — and only if that specific theater turned it on for online sales, which most big chains have not.
If you served, the discounts that actually save money live elsewhere. Online, verify once for free with GovX and buy discounted e-tickets for AMC, Regal, or Cinemark, or use WeSalute+ for Regal — these work in advance, unlike the box-office discount. In person, show your military ID at the box office (AMC gives at least 10% off the evening price) and skip Fandango’s fee.
This is an independent guide — NavyWeek is not affiliated with Fandango, the theaters, GovX, or WeSalute, and every program’s terms can change at any time.

WHO QUALIFIES
Fandango has no military discount of its own — military ticket pricing is set by each theater, so service members save more through GovX, the box office, or Fandango’s audience-neutral FanClub.
- Active-duty service members across all branches — eligible for box-office military discounts (AMC, Regal, Cinemark) and for GovX discounted e-tickets online.
- Veterans and military retirees — eligible at the box office (bring a valid ID or DD-214) and through GovX after a free verification.
- Military spouses and dependents — named by Cinemark ("dependents") and covered by WeSalute+ for Regal; verify per theater or marketplace.
- Reserve and National Guard members — generally covered under standard military verification at the box office and on GovX.
- First responders, government employees, nurses, and teachers — not a theater "military" discount, but covered by GovX for discounted movie tickets.
| Audience | Discount |
|---|---|
| Military — active, reserve, Guard, veterans, retirees (box office, in person)Set by each theater; not valid on tickets you pre-bought on Fandango. | AMC: at least 10% off |
| GovX-verified military, veterans, first responders, government, nurses, teachersBought on GovX after free verification; format and location limits apply. | ~10–25% off e-tickets |
| Fandango FanClub members (audience-neutral, not a military benefit)$9.99/mo; often the cheapest route for heavy Fandango users if you use the monthly credit. | Fees waived + $10 off/mo |
HOW TO REDEEM
Online at www.fandango.com
- Create a free GovX accountVerify your military, veteran, first-responder, government, nurse, or teacher status once with a GovX ID — GovX, not Fandango, runs the verification.
- Open the movie-tickets sectionChoose your chain (AMC, Regal, or Cinemark) in the GovX movie-tickets hub.
- Buy the discounted e-ticketNote format and location restrictions — many are restricted "Yellow"-type tickets with no premium formats and some state exclusions.
- Redeem at the theaterPresent the GovX e-ticket at your showtime. It is bought on GovX, not Fandango.
In store
- Go to a participating theater box officeAMC, Regal, or Cinemark — participating locations only.
- Present a valid photo military IDAsk for the military ticket at the counter.
- Save in personAMC gives at least 10% off the evening price. This discount is not available on tickets you pre-bought on Fandango.
HOW IT WORKS
Because Fandango only passes through each theater’s pricing, whether a "military" ticket even appears at checkout is decided theater by theater — and the three biggest chains (AMC, Regal, Cinemark) run their military discount at the box office with a physical ID, which cannot be applied to a ticket you bought in advance on Fandango.
The strongest online military path is GovX: after a free, one-time verification, GovX sells discounted AMC, Regal, and Cinemark e-tickets to military, veterans, first responders, government employees, nurses, and teachers. WeSalute+ offers deeper Regal savings if you go often enough to justify the paid membership.
If you buy on Fandango a lot, its audience-neutral programs can beat any military rate: free FanRewards earns $5 back per four tickets, and paid FanClub ($9.99/mo) waives all convenience fees and adds $10 off a month. And if you are flexible on the day, chain loyalty deals like Discount Tuesday routinely cost less than any military discount — for everyone.
Exclusions & fine print
- Fandango has no military discount of its own — military pricing is controlled by each theater.
- Fandango adds a non-refundable convenience fee (about $1.79 per ticket, more for IMAX) unless you are a paid FanClub member.
- Box-office military discounts are in-person only, at participating theatres, on standard tickets — premium formats (IMAX/Dolby/3D) and special engagements are excluded or surcharged.
- GovX "Yellow"-type e-tickets carry format and state restrictions (often not valid in CA/NY/NJ; no premium formats without a surcharge).
- FanRewards and FanClub are audience-neutral Fandango programs, not military benefits.
