Staples Military & Veteran Discount
No everyday military discount exists — the real offer is 25% off in-store during Veterans Day week (2022, 2024, 2025). Here’s the dated history, and where military shoppers save the rest of the year.
Staples does not offer an everyday military or veteran discount — there’s no ID.me or SheerID verification at checkout, and no military promo code exists despite what coupon sites claim. What Staples reliably has run is a 25% off in-store discount during Veterans Day week (2022, 2024, and 2025), redeemed by showing a valid military ID at the register.
The rest of the year, the honest play is different: take your verification to Office Depot/OfficeMax, which runs a real 20% military coupon through ID.me, shop tax-free at the military exchange if you’re eligible, or use Staples’ own free levers — Easy Rewards points, sale pricing, price match, and cashback portals.
This is an independent guide. We’re not affiliated with Staples, and Staples controls and can change its offers at any time.

One week at Staples, fifty-one weeks somewhere else
Staples’ military value is concentrated in a single November week — plan around it:
- Circle Veterans Day week (the days around November 11): Staples has run 25% off in-store with a valid military ID in 2022, 2024, and 2025 — the best single-window price of the year in this category.
- The other 51 weeks, take your verification to Office Depot/OfficeMax: a real everyday 20% military coupon via ID.me online or military ID in store (excludes ink/toner and tech).
- Exchange-eligible with a tax-heavy cart? ShopMyExchange is sales-tax-free on everything and open online to all honorably discharged veterans — back-to-school events have hit 40% off select supplies.
- Buying at Staples anyway? Stack the free stuff: Easy Rewards (1 pt/$1, 2X on your picked categories, ink-recycling points), ~4% portal cashback online (as of July 4, 2026), and the price match on identical in-stock items.
The Veterans Day promo is a pattern, not a promise — terms and eligible groups are set fresh each year, the exclusion list is never published, and it has never worked online.
BEST SAVINGS PATH
The smartest route depends on your situation. Answer the two questions to find your best path, or scan the full decision table below.
Find your best path
1. Is it the week of Veterans Day (early November)?
2. Is your cart mostly ink/toner or technology?
Short version: Staples has no everyday military discount — shop its Veterans Day-week 25% in-store with your ID, and the rest of the year take your verification to Office Depot (20% coupon) or the tax-free exchange. Buying at Staples anyway? Easy Rewards + sale pricing + ~4% cashback is the floor.
The Veterans Day-week 25% (when it runs, as it did in 2022, 2024, and 2025) beats every other path in this category. Mention the offer at checkout and ask about exclusions.
Unlike Office Depot’s everyday coupon, the Staples Veterans Day promo’s published coverage doesn’t carve out ink or tech (the exclusion list is unpublished — confirm at the register). It’s the one week your ink cart gets a military price.
Office Depot’s military coupon excludes ink/toner and technology, so for those items the honest floor is Staples’ public levers: sale pricing, ~4% portal cashback online, points, and the price match.
Office Depot/OfficeMax runs the real everyday program (20% off one qualifying purchase via ID.me or in-store ID). Exchange-eligible shoppers with tax-heavy carts should price ShopMyExchange — tax-free on everything.
| Path | Stack | Effective price | You save | Best when |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Staples Veterans Day 25% (in-store, historical) | Physical ID at the register; portal cashback can’t apply (in-store) | $60.00 | $20.00 | Roughly November 5–12 only, in store, with military ID — the best single-window price of the year |
| Office Depot/OfficeMax 20% military coupon (substitute) | One qualifying purchase; excludes ink/toner + tech | $64.00 on eligible items | $16.00 | Any day of the year, verified via ID.me or military ID in store — cart isn’t ink/tech-heavy |
| Military exchange (ShopMyExchange) — tax-free | Tax-free + back-to-school sale pricing (up to 40% select, historical) | ~$74.40 tax-in vs ~$85.60 tax-in at Staples | ~$11+ | You’re exchange-eligible (all honorably discharged veterans online); tax-heavy carts; the BTS window |
| Staples sale + cashback portal (online) | ~4% portal + Easy Rewards earn | $76.80 before sale pricing | $3.20+ | Everyday online orders when no military window is live |
| Easy Rewards alone | 1 pt/$1 (2X on your bonus categories) | $80 now, ~$0.40–$0.80 back in points | Under $1 | The floor case — always free, always on |

WHO QUALIFIES
Staples has no everyday military or veteran discount and no military promo code — what it has reliably run is 25% off in-store during Veterans Day week (2022, 2024, and 2025), redeemed by showing a valid military ID at the register. The rest of the year, Office Depot’s real 20% military coupon or the tax-free military exchange beat anything at Staples.
- Everyday: no group qualifies — Staples runs no standing military program (ID.me’s Staples page confirms no offer).
- Veterans Day promo (historical terms): active duty, reservists (Reserve and National Guard members), retired or disabled veterans, and immediate family — with a valid military ID at the register.
- All other veterans: the 2025 coverage said "veterans and active military," while earlier terms said "retired or disabled veterans" — the wording changes yearly, so bring any military ID, VA card, or state veteran ID and ask.
- Military spouses/dependents beyond "immediate family," first responders, nurses, students: not stated for the military promo. Teachers have separate Staples programs (back-to-school coupons, Teacher Appreciation events, Classroom Rewards).

HOW TO REDEEM
Online at www.staples.com
- There is no online military discountThe Veterans Day discount is in-store only, and no Staples military promo code exists — any site claiming an online code is wrong.
- Use the public online levers insteadJoin Easy Rewards free (1 point per $1; 200 points = $1), click through a cashback portal (~4% at Rakuten/TopCashback as of July 4, 2026), and shop the back-to-school sales (July–September) for the category’s deepest public pricing.
- Or take your verification elsewhereOffice Depot/OfficeMax runs a real 20% military coupon (ID.me online, military ID in store; excludes ink/toner and tech), and exchange-eligible shoppers can buy supplies tax-free at ShopMyExchange.
In store
- Confirm the Veterans Day promo is liveTypically the days surrounding November 11 — check Staples’ weekly ad or ask at the register in early November. Staples announces terms fresh each year.
- Mention the offer and show a valid military IDAt checkout in any U.S. Staples store, mention the military offer and show a military ID or applicable veteran ID.
- Save 25% on qualifying purchasesSome items are excluded — Staples has never published the exclusion list, so ask at the register.
HOW IT WORKS
The debunk first: aggregators currently advertise "25% Off Staples Military Discount 2026 — How to Claim Online" and "Staples military discount code: 50% Off." Both are false. There is no online Staples military discount and no code — the only verified military offer in Staples’ history is the ~25% in-store Veterans Day-week discount, redeemed by showing a military ID. ID.me Shop’s own Staples page shows no military offer, there’s no GovX storefront for the retailer, and Staples publishes nothing about the promo on staples.com — the terms exist only in each year’s coverage.
The Veterans Day history is real and dated: 25% off in-store ran November 6–12, 2022, through November 12, 2024 (active duty, reservists, retired or disabled veterans, and immediate family), and approximately November 5–11, 2025 ("veterans and active military" per that year’s coverage). Watch the eligibility drift — the older wording named "retired or disabled veterans" specifically, so whether every veteran qualifies is set fresh each year. Bring any military ID, VA card, or state veteran ID, mention the offer at checkout, and ask about exclusions (the list has never been published).
Outside that one week, a verified military shopper saves more elsewhere. Office Depot/OfficeMax runs a genuine everyday program: 20% off one qualifying regular- or sale-price purchase (verify with ID.me online or show military ID in store), plus a military/teacher 25%-back-in-Bonus-Rewards offer running December 28, 2025 – December 26, 2026 — though ink/toner and technology are excluded. And ShopMyExchange is tax-free on everything, open online to all honorably discharged veterans (Veterans Online Shopping Benefit, since November 11, 2017), with back-to-school events that have hit 40% off select supplies.
Staples’ own year-round levers are public, not military: Easy Rewards is free (1 point per $1, 2X on three self-picked categories, 200 points = $1, plus points for recycling ink/toner cartridges up to a dashboard-shown monthly limit); the price-match policy covers identical in-stock items including sold-and-shipped-by-Amazon; cashback portals paid ~4% on online orders as of July 4, 2026; and the July–September back-to-school season brings 25¢ doorbusters and weekly freebies — the category’s deepest public pricing. Coupon sites also report a $15-off-$60 email/text signup offer for new online subscribers, but it isn’t confirmed on any Staples-owned page — verify at signup before counting on it.
Exclusions & fine print
- No everyday military discount exists — 0% outside the Veterans Day window, and no code has ever existed.
- Veterans Day promo: in-store only, never online; "exclusions apply" per every year’s coverage, and Staples has never published the list — ask at the register.
- Eligible-group wording changes yearly (2024: active duty, reservists, retired or disabled veterans, immediate family; 2025 coverage: "veterans and active military").
- Easy Rewards: no points on gift cards, phone cards, postage, clearance, taxes, shipping, protection plans, or third-party marketplace purchases.
- Price match: identical/new/in-stock items only; Amazon marketplace sellers excluded; no matching Black Friday/Cyber Monday/clearance/liquidation prices; services excluded.
- Office Depot’s substitute 20% military coupon excludes ink & toner and technology — the two biggest categories in this aisle.

All military & veteran discountsEditorial policy
- Source priority. We checked ID.me’s Staples page (no military offer listed) and staples.com (no military page exists — Staples doesn’t even publish its Veterans Day promo terms online). The 25% Veterans Day-week history comes from dated coverage of the 2022, 2024, and 2025 runs. We repeat no coupon-site claims ("25% off online 2026," "50% off codes") — no online Staples military discount or code has ever existed. The Office Depot and exchange substitute paths are quoted from those retailers’ own pages, and cashback rates are date-stamped.
