Hertz doesn’t have one flat “military discount” — it runs a few official programs, and which one saves you the most depends on who you are and how you book. Active-duty service members, National Guard, Reservists, and (where applicable) military spouses can book through Hertz’s Government & Military page, where a Hertz discount code (CDP) is automatically applied for discounted rates, space-available upgrades, and a free Hertz Gold Plus Rewards membership. Separately, Hertz’s Military Brands offer gives up to 20% off the base rate with CDP 2306779, and WeSalute+ members (the program formerly known as Veterans Advantage) get up to 25% off with CDP 1264103.

A few things to know before you book: every published percentage is an “up to” figure that applies to the pay-later base rate only (the time-and-mileage charge — taxes, fees, and add-ons are extra), the discount can’t be combined with other promotions, and the exact savings vary by date, location, car class, and rental length. You may also be asked to show military or government ID at pickup. For official-duty (TDY) travel, Hertz runs a completely separate government program where a $5/day GARS fee applies — that’s official-travel pricing, not the leisure discount.

Enter your trip details
Enter your pickup location, dates and times, and drop-off. Book at least 24 hours ahead, as the Military Brands and WeSalute+ terms require a 24-hour advance reservation.
Select pay-later
Choose pay-later to keep the discounted base rate eligible — the discount applies to the pay-later base rate (time + mileage).
Review the discounted base rate

HOW IT WORKS

Hertz does not gate these offers behind a third-party verification service — there’s no ID.me, SheerID, or GovX checkpoint for the standard military leisure CDP. Instead, the discount code (CDP) is pre-populated when you use the official booking link, and Hertz states you may be asked to provide proof that you qualify for the military CDP when you collect your rental (for example, official government or military ID). The WeSalute+ route is different: it requires an active WeSalute (formerly Veterans Advantage) membership, and the up-to-25% discount books under CDP 1264103.

There is no single “Hertz military CDP.” Hertz’s own pages surface more than one code — the Government & Military leisure booking link, Military Brands CDP 2306779, and WeSalute+ CDP 1264103 — and the relationship between them isn’t explained on-page. Because each offer caps savings differently (“up to 20%” vs. “up to 25%”), the best rate can vary by booking, so it’s worth pricing the same dates and location under each code you’re eligible for.
