Hertz Military & Veteran Discount
Up to 20% off the base rate with Hertz’s Military Brands code and up to 25% for WeSalute+ veterans — plus a Government & Military leisure rate. All “up to,” base-rate only, via CDP codes.
Hertz doesn’t have one flat “military discount” — it runs a few official programs, and which one saves you the most depends on who you are and how you book. Active-duty service members, National Guard, Reservists, and (where applicable) military spouses can book through Hertz’s Government & Military page, where a Hertz discount code (CDP) is automatically applied for discounted rates, space-available upgrades, and a free Hertz Gold Plus Rewards membership. Separately, Hertz’s Military Brands offer gives up to 20% off the base rate with CDP 2306779, and WeSalute+ members (the program formerly known as Veterans Advantage) get up to 25% off with CDP 1264103.
A few things to know before you book: every published percentage is an “up to” figure that applies to the pay-later base rate only (the time-and-mileage charge — taxes, fees, and add-ons are extra), the discount can’t be combined with other promotions, and the exact savings vary by date, location, car class, and rental length. You may also be asked to show military or government ID at pickup. For official-duty (TDY) travel, Hertz runs a completely separate government program where a $5/day GARS fee applies — that’s official-travel pricing, not the leisure discount.
This is an independent guide to help you understand and use these offers. We’re not affiliated with Hertz, and Hertz controls the terms and can change them at any time. Always confirm current rates and codes on Hertz’s official pages before you book.

WHO QUALIFIES
Hertz runs several official military, government and veteran programs: up to 20% off the base rate with its Military Brands code (CDP 2306779), up to 25% off for WeSalute+ members (CDP 1264103), and a Government & Military leisure program with discounted rates (no published percentage). A separate official-duty (TDY) program adds a $5/day GARS fee.
- Active-duty service members — eligible through Hertz’s Government & Military program.
- National Guard members — listed on Hertz’s military page.
- Reservists — listed on Hertz’s military page.
- Veterans — Hertz’s military page lists only “some veterans” on the standard program; the documented broad-veteran route is WeSalute+ membership (up to 25% off, CDP 1264103).
- Military spouses — eligible “where applicable” per Hertz; confirm at booking and pickup.
- Government employees — eligible for the separate official-duty (TDY) program (not the leisure discount).
- Retirees, other dependents, and surviving spouses / Gold Star families are not addressed on Hertz’s official program pages — check directly with Hertz before assuming eligibility.

HOW TO REDEEM
Online at www.hertz.com
- Choose the matching Hertz program pageGo to Hertz’s Government & Military page, or the Military Brands or WeSalute+ offer page, and use the matching booking link — the CDP discount code is pre-populated for you. The codes are distinct (leisure, Military Brands 2306779, WeSalute+ 1264103); they are not interchangeable.
- Enter your trip detailsEnter your pickup location, dates and times, and drop-off. Book at least 24 hours ahead, as the Military Brands and WeSalute+ terms require a 24-hour advance reservation.
- Select pay-laterChoose pay-later to keep the discounted base rate eligible — the discount applies to the pay-later base rate (time + mileage).
- Review the discounted base ratePick your vehicle and review the rate; the CDP-linked discount is reflected in the base rate. Taxes, fees and add-ons are charged on top.
- Complete the reservationFinish booking, and bring military or government ID — Hertz may ask you to prove you qualify for the military CDP when you collect the rental.
In store
- Book under the correct CDPHave a reservation under the right CDP (Government & Military leisure, Military Brands 2306779, or WeSalute+ 1264103), or ask the counter or phone agent to apply the appropriate military CDP.
- Show ID if askedPresent your military or government ID if Hertz asks you to verify eligibility at pickup.
- Collect at the discounted base ratePick up your vehicle at the discounted base rate; any taxes, fees and add-ons are charged on top.
HOW IT WORKS
Hertz does not gate these offers behind a third-party verification service — there’s no ID.me, SheerID, or GovX checkpoint for the standard military leisure CDP. Instead, the discount code (CDP) is pre-populated when you use the official booking link, and Hertz states you may be asked to provide proof that you qualify for the military CDP when you collect your rental (for example, official government or military ID). The WeSalute+ route is different: it requires an active WeSalute (formerly Veterans Advantage) membership, and the up-to-25% discount books under CDP 1264103.
There is no single “Hertz military CDP.” Hertz’s own pages surface more than one code — the Government & Military leisure booking link, Military Brands CDP 2306779, and WeSalute+ CDP 1264103 — and the relationship between them isn’t explained on-page. Because each offer caps savings differently (“up to 20%” vs. “up to 25%”), the best rate can vary by booking, so it’s worth pricing the same dates and location under each code you’re eligible for.
Watch the difference between leisure and duty travel. The leisure discount gives military members a reduced personal-travel rate. Official government travel (TDY) is a separate contracted program where the CDP is pre-populated and a $5/day GARS fee is added per the U.S. Government Car Rental Agreement — that’s duty-travel pricing, not a personal discount.
Exclusions & fine print
- Every published percentage is “up to” and applies to the pay-later base rate only (time + mileage) — taxes, fees, and options are excluded.
- The discount is not combinable: Hertz states it “may not be used with other discounts, promotions or special rates.”
- Actual savings vary by date, location, car class, length of rental, and other factors.
- A 24-hour advance reservation is required (Military Brands and WeSalute+ terms).
- Age, driver, credit and qualifying-rate restrictions for the renting location apply; rates may change or extra fees may apply on modification, early/late return, or one-way returns.
- The Government & Military leisure program publishes no percentage — Hertz states only “discounted rates.”
- Official-duty (TDY) travel carries a $5/day GARS fee per vehicle — that is official-travel pricing, not the leisure discount.
- Hertz lists more than one CDP (leisure, Military Brands 2306779, WeSalute+ 1264103) and does not reconcile them into a single “military code” on its pages.
- Caps (per-order or annual), gift-card rules, and full international terms are not stated on Hertz’s US program pages; terms here reflect the United States.
