Seattle Aquarium Military Discount
$2 off admission at the gate for active, retired, and veteran military — plus free summer admission for serving members via Blue Star Museums.
Straight answer: the Seattle Aquarium gives active, retired, and veteran U.S. military $2 off admission, redeemable at the admission gate (not online) for the next available time slot. It’s a small but real year-round discount — bring your military ID.
The bigger benefit is seasonal: each summer the Aquarium has historically joined Blue Star Museums, which gives free admission to currently serving military and up to five family members from Armed Forces Day (May 16, 2026) through Labor Day (September 7, 2026). That program covers active-duty, Guard, and Reserve members — not veterans — and depends on the Aquarium registering each year, so confirm it on the National Endowment for the Arts registry before you go.

HOW TO REDEEM
Online at www.seattleaquarium.org
- Note: the $2 discount is not available onlineThe military discount is gate-only and cannot be applied to online or advance tickets. If you book ahead at seattleaquarium.org, the Aquarium uses demand-based "plan-ahead" pricing (roughly $23–$51 for adults) — picking a low-demand date can cost as little as ~$23 and sometimes beats the flat $2 discount.
- For Blue Star Museums, confirm participation online firstBefore relying on free summer admission, check that the Seattle Aquarium is listed for 2026 on the NEA Blue Star Museums registry at arts.gov, then redeem in person at the gate.
In store
- Go to the Seattle Aquarium admission gateThe discount can’t be booked online — it is redeemed in person at the gate.
- Show valid U.S. military IDPresent a valid military ID (active, retired, or veteran).
- Receive $2 off admissionYou get $2 off admission for the next available time slot.
- For Blue Star (summer) insteadIf you are currently serving and visiting May 16–Sept 7, 2026, present your CAC, DD-1173, DD-1173-1, or Next-Generation USID at the gate for free admission for you and up to five family members — after confirming the Aquarium is on the 2026 NEA registry.
HOW IT WORKS
For the $2 discount, verification is a simple military ID check at the gate — no online account or third-party provider. Because the discount is gate-only, it can’t be combined with online promos; you choose one channel.
For Blue Star Museums, eligibility is confirmed by presenting a valid military ID (CAC, DD Form 1173, DD Form 1173-1, or Next-Generation USID) at the gate during the program window. It covers currently serving members and up to five accompanying family members, and it replaces a paid ticket entirely rather than stacking on top of one.
Admission itself uses demand-based "plan-ahead" pricing — an adult ticket is around $33.95 regular but ranges roughly $23–$51 depending on the date and attendance. Because a low-demand date can be cheaper than the flat $2 off, veterans, retirees, and off-season visitors should compare a low-demand advance date against the $2 gate discount, whichever is cheaper.
Exclusions & fine print
- The $2 military discount is gate-only — it is not applied to online or advance tickets.
- Blue Star Museums free admission is seasonal (May 16–Sept 7, 2026) and covers currently serving members only — not veterans or retirees — with the service member present.
- Aquarium admission uses demand-based "plan-ahead" pricing (roughly $23–$51 for adults); the $2 is taken off that day’s gate price.
- Blue Star participation is confirmed annually on the NEA registry — verify the Seattle Aquarium is listed for 2026 before relying on it.
