HOW IT WORKS

Verification is in person: you show a valid military ID to a Gap store associate at the register. Gap Inc. explicitly ties the in-store-only rule to needing to physically verify that ID. Unlike sibling brand Old Navy (which has used online verification services), Gap-branded online orders have no SheerID/ID.me military flow — so there is no online code to enter at gap.com checkout.

One thing to watch: many coupon and aggregator pages headline a "Gap 10% online military discount, verify with SheerID," and some describe a "10–15%" range. Neither is accurate for Gap-branded shopping. The verified figure is 10%, in-store only; the SheerID "military verification" pages some results surface belong to Old Navy and to Foot Locker, not Gap.

Old Navy, Banana Republic, and Athleta are sibling brands under Gap Inc., each with its own policy — don’t assume Gap’s in-store rule applies to them or vice versa. If Gap ever adds online verification the way Old Navy has, the "in-store only" headline would change; until then, treat any "online Gap military code" as unverified.
