Kroger Military & Veteran Discount
Kroger has no everyday military discount — the 10% is Veterans Day (and some divisions, Memorial Day) only, with a military ID and loyalty card. Here’s the honest answer and the everyday savings.
Let’s be straight: Kroger does not have an everyday, chain-wide military discount. The claim you’ll see on coupon sites — that Kroger takes 10% off for military "on the 1st and 15th of every month" — isn’t true and isn’t published anywhere on kroger.com.
What Kroger actually offers is a holiday-only 10% discount: on Veterans Day (November 11), and in some divisions on Memorial Day, veterans, active-duty members, and their dependents get 10% off their eligible purchase by showing a valid military ID or DD214 and scanning their Kroger loyalty (Shopper’s) card at checkout. It is in-store and Kroger Pickup, it is announced division by division (so it varies by market and banner — Ralphs, Fred Meyer, King Soopers, Fry’s, Smith’s, QFC and the rest), and it excludes fuel, alcohol, tobacco, pharmacy, gift cards and more.
Every other day of the year, your real savings at Kroger come from the free loyalty card, digital coupons, the weekly ad, and fuel points — plus a new 2026 option to cash points in for grocery dollars, and an optional paid Boost membership. This is an independent guide — we are not affiliated with Kroger or any of its banners, and Kroger controls these programs and can change them at any time.

WHO QUALIFIES
Kroger has no everyday, chain-wide military discount. It offers a holiday-only 10% off — on Veterans Day (Nov 11) and, in some divisions, Memorial Day — for veterans, active military, and their dependents who show a valid military ID or DD214 and scan their Kroger loyalty card. It is in-store and Kroger Pickup only, excludes fuel, alcohol, tobacco, pharmacy, gift cards and more, and is announced division by division. Every other day, save with the free loyalty card, digital coupons, weekly sales, and fuel points.
- Veterans qualify for the holiday 10% with a valid military ID or Form DD214.
- Active-duty military qualify with a valid military ID.
- Dependents and immediate family qualify, per Kroger’s PR ("their dependents").
- Reserve and National Guard members are not separately specified but are generally covered by a valid military ID — verify at your store.
- Retirees are covered as "former military members" with valid ID — verify locally.
- First responders, nurses, teachers, and students have no documented Kroger grocery discount.
- There is no everyday military discount for anyone — every other day, use the free loyalty card and fuel points instead.

| Veterans, active-duty & dependents — Veterans Day (and some divisions, Memorial Day)Show a valid military ID or DD214 and scan your Kroger loyalty card at the register. | Reserve/Guard & retireesNot separately called out in Kroger’s PR, but generally covered by a valid military ID as active or former military. Confirm at your local store, since the offer is run division by division. | 10% off (verify locally) |
| Everyone, every day (free loyalty program)There is no everyday military discount. The free Kroger loyalty (Plus/Rewards) card unlocks card/sale prices, digital coupons, and fuel points: 1 point per $1; 100 points = 10¢/gal (up to $1/gal) or (new for 2026) $1 off groceries, up to $10/day. | Coupons + fuel points |
| Frequent shoppers (optional paid Boost)The paid Boost membership adds 2X points and free delivery ($35+ minimum). Prices as of July 2026 and can change. Worth it only for frequent Kroger fuel/delivery users — not a military benefit. | ~$59–$99/yr |
HOW TO REDEEM
Online at www.kroger.com
- Join the free Kroger loyalty programSign up for a Plus/Rewards card at kroger.com or in the app. It unlocks card/sale prices and digital coupons and earns fuel points — the everyday savings that need no military ID.
- Clip digital coupons and check the weekly adClip digital coupons in the app before you shop and review the weekly ad. This is the real everyday saving at Kroger; there is no military discount to wait for.
- Bank and redeem fuel pointsEarn 1 point per $1. Redeem 100 points for 10¢/gal off (up to $1/gal on one big fill) or, new for 2026, $1 off groceries per 100 points, up to $10/day. The same points are either fuel cents or grocery dollars, not both.
In store
- Shop on the event dayShop in store, or via Kroger Pickup where offered, on Veterans Day (Nov 11) or your division’s announced Memorial Day date. Availability and whether Pickup is honored vary by division.
- Scan your Kroger loyalty cardAt checkout, scan your Kroger loyalty / Shopper’s Card (free to sign up). The 10% sits on top of your loyalty/shelf price, so the card is required.
- Show a valid military ID or DD214Present a valid military ID or Form DD214 to the cashier. This is a manual check — Kroger uses no ID.me, SheerID, GovX, or WeSalute and no online code for this offer.
- Get 10% off eligible items (and still earn fuel points)The 10% comes off eligible items only — not fuel, alcohol, tobacco, pharmacy, gift cards, and other excluded categories. You still earn fuel points on the eligible spend.
HOW IT WORKS
The honest headline is that Kroger’s military benefit is a dated, holiday event, not an everyday rate. Multiple independent outlets quoting Kroger PR confirm the same mechanics for Veterans Day: 10% off eligible items for veterans, active military, and dependents, in-store and via Kroger Pickup, with a valid military ID or DD214 and a scanned loyalty card. Some divisions (for example the Dallas Division across North Texas, East Texas, and Louisiana) have run a one-day Memorial Day 10% event, but that is not confirmed chain-wide.
Because the discount is run division by division, availability genuinely varies. Kroger’s newsroom has framed Veterans Day as "in stores nationwide," yet the confirmations are division- and market-level, and cashier interpretation of what counts as "eligible" can differ. Treat it as a real but YMMV benefit: verify your local banner and ad each year, and don’t assume Delivery (as opposed to Pickup) is included.
There is no third-party verification and no online code for this offer — it is a manual military-ID check at the register plus your Kroger loyalty card. Kroger’s separate "Verified Savings" program is for government-assistance/SNAP shoppers, not a military path. So ignore any site telling you to "enter a Kroger military promo code" — none exists.
Every other day, the free loyalty wallet is the real saving. The Plus/Rewards card unlocks card and sale prices plus digital coupons and earns fuel points — 1 point per $1, with 100 points worth 10¢/gal (up to $1/gal on one big fill) or, new for 2026, $1 off groceries (up to $10/day). Frequent Kroger fuel/delivery shoppers can add the paid Boost membership (~$59–$99/yr as of July 2026) for 2X points and free delivery. And eligible service members and veterans should compare the on-base commissary, which sells groceries at or near cost with no sales tax and often beats any civilian grocery discount.
Exclusions & fine print
- There is no everyday, chain-wide military discount — the 10% applies only on Veterans Day (and, in some divisions, Memorial Day).
- The widely circulated "10% off for military on the 1st and 15th of every month" (and "up to 10–25% everyday") claims are not published anywhere on kroger.com and appear fabricated or conflated — do not rely on them.
- Excluded from the 10%: alcohol, tobacco, fuel, money orders, taxes, postage, gift cards, lottery, promotional tickets, CRV (bottle deposit), prescriptions, and guest/customer service fees.
- Fuel is excluded — there is no military fuel discount; the way to save on gas is fuel points earned on eligible grocery spend.
- The offer requires a Kroger loyalty card scan plus a valid military ID or DD214, and is in-store + Kroger Pickup only (general delivery is not guaranteed to be included).
- It is announced division by division across Kroger’s banners (Ralphs, Fred Meyer, King Soopers, Fry’s, Smith’s, QFC, Pick ’n Save and others), so dates, terms, and availability can differ or be absent in your market.

All military & veteran discountsEditorial policy
- Source priority. We cite Kroger’s newsroom/military pages and multiple independent news outlets quoting Kroger PR first, and report plainly that there is no everyday chain-wide military discount — the 10% is holiday-only (Veterans Day; some divisions Memorial Day), applied manually with a military ID or DD214 plus a Kroger loyalty card. The eligibility, exclusions, and division-by-division mechanics are quoted from those sources and confirmed on the "Last verified" date above. Because the offer is announced per division, availability varies by banner/market. We deliberately debunk the fabricated "10% off on the 1st and 15th of every month" claim because it appears nowhere on kroger.com.

- Review cadence. Because Kroger can change these terms at any time, the offer is re-verified against the official page on a recurring basis and whenever a reader reports a change.
