Traeger support states the discount is offered to all active duty, veterans, reservists, and retirees of the U.S. military, as well as their spouses and dependents. It’s online only (not valid in stores) and limited to US and Canada residents. Traeger "reserves the right to change product eligibility, discount and/or prices at any given time without prior notice."

The most important nuance is the "up to 20%" wording. It applies to select grills, so some models get less than the full 20% — grilling forums report the discount "only knocks off a small amount on some grills." Verify the exact model in your cart. MEATER products are excluded entirely, and only limited accessories, sauces, and rubs are included.

For a big-ticket buyer, the tax-free exchange path matters. Traeger models like the Pro 780, Pro 575, and Texas Elite 34 are stocked tax-free with free shipping at shopmyexchange.com (AAFES) and mynavyexchange.com (Navy Exchange), and are MILITARY STAR card eligible. On a ~$1,000 grill, the ~8% sales tax saved can beat a small ID.me percentage — and if your model isn’t in the 20% "select" set, the tax-free price often wins. The exchange is a separate channel, so you use one route or the other, not both.

A few aggregator claims to ignore: the "up to 40% Traeger military discount" traces to ID.me Shop’s marketplace-wide storefront banner, not Traeger’s grill offer; the ID.me landing page shop.id.me/discounts/traeger/military currently reads "We’re not aware that Traeger Grills offers Military discounts," which is a stale auto-generated template that Traeger’s own live offer contradicts; Ace Hardware typically excludes Traeger from its discretionary 10% military discount; and no Traeger GovX storefront was found this pass.
