Phoenix Zoo Military & Veteran Discount
$5 off general admission at the gate for military and veterans (18+), plus free entry on Veterans Day and Memorial Day.
Yes — the Phoenix Zoo gives military members and veterans (18+) $5 off general admission at the gate with valid photo ID, and runs free admission on Veterans Day and Memorial Day with military ID or DD214.
The everyday $5 is gate-only and can’t be used on online or advance tickets, so on regular days it’s worth comparing against the online advance price — the two don’t stack. The bigger wins are the free holiday days, and on Memorial Day the cardholder’s party also gets $10 off for up to four guests.
This is an independent guide; we’re not affiliated with the Phoenix Zoo, which is a nonprofit that sets and can change these terms each year. Confirm the current-year holiday terms on the zoo’s event pages before you go.

HOW TO REDEEM
Online at www.phoenixzoo.org
- The everyday $5 is gate-only — compare the online advance priceThe military $5 discount is not valid on online or advance tickets, so it can’t be claimed on the website. On regular days, compare the online advance price at phoenixzoo.org against the gate price plus your $5 — the cheaper of the two wins (they don’t stack).
- Check the current-year holiday event pagesBefore a visit around Veterans Day or Memorial Day, open the zoo’s event page (e.g. phoenixzoo.org/events/memorial-day) to confirm this year’s free-admission terms and hours.
In store
- Bring valid IDBring valid photo ID for the everyday $5, and military ID or DD214 for holiday free admission.
- Buy at the gate/box officePurchase your ticket in person at the gate — not online, since the military discount is gate-only.
- Tell the cashier and present IDMention you’re claiming the military discount and show your ID so the cashier can apply it.
HOW IT WORKS
Verification is manual and in person: a cashier checks your photo ID for the everyday $5, or your military ID or DD214 for holiday free admission. There is no ID.me, GovX, SheerID, or WeSalute digital verification — everything happens at the gate.
Some discount-directory pages misstate the everyday benefit as "5% off." The zoo’s own discounts page states a flat $5 off general admission, not a percentage, so trust the primary page. The real value is the free-admission holidays: Veterans Day and Memorial Day, when active-duty and veterans enter free with proper ID.
For the best total cost, plan visits around Veterans Day and Memorial Day; if you visit multiple times a year, a household membership beats per-visit discounts; and on non-holidays, weigh the $5 gate discount against the online advance price, which is sometimes lower even without the discount. Also watch for local Arizona-resident or free-day promotions.
Exclusions & fine print
- The everyday $5 is not valid on online or advance tickets — gate purchase only.
- Cannot be combined with any other offer.
- Applies to the identified cardholder; ages 18+.
- Holiday free admission requires military ID or DD214, in person; the Memorial Day $10-off-guests offer covers up to four guests.
- Admission pricing is dynamic by date and season — confirm the day-of gate price before assuming a total.
