Lexington is Kentucky's second-largest city in the heart of the Bluegrass Region — the "Horse Capital of the World." It is thoroughly landlocked with no naval installations nearby, making it a prime Navy Week target.

Fort Knox (~80 miles west) houses the U.S. Army Human Resources Command and the U.S. Bullion Depository. Fort Campbell (101st Airborne, KY-TN border) is also in the state. The University of Kentucky provides a major audience of 30,000+ students. Kentucky has a significant veteran population and long military heritage across all branches.
