5:10 p.m. Tampa Bay Navy Week Kickoff Party! / SS American Victory
Come joins us in kicking off the 2010 Tampa Bay Navy Week in true Navy style. The S.S. American Victory, docked at Channelside, will be open to the public for tours and a concert by the Navy rock band Pride. The festivities begin at 5pm. The S.S. American Victory is a great place to not only learn about the Navy's past, but to also learn all about the Navy of today. Active duty Sailors will be on board doing demonstrations and showing videos. Pride will take over at 6:30 rockin' the ship until 8:30. All high school students get aboard for free. Admission still applies to adults and children under 12. See you aboard the ship!

The Navy will be demonstrating their passion for physical fitness when Sailors join forces with Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio for her bi-annual "Walk with the Mayor." Come out and get fit with the Navy.
8:30 a.m. Sailor in the Spotlight / ABC 15
Chefs in the Navy are the best of the best and here’s your chance to learn some of their secrets. Our Navy Week chef from the USS FLORIDA will be live on ABC 15 this morning demonstrating one of his tasty recipes.
10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Swim with the Diver / Adventure Island

Ever wonder what it's like to be a Navy Diver? Now here's your chance to not only get your questions answered, but to take a swim with a Navy Diver. The divers will be in the water until 1 P.M. at Adventure Island. During that time you can also rock to the sounds of Navy band Pride and play volleyball against the crew of USS FLORIDA and win big prizes. The band will play from 1-3:30 P.M. Sign-ups for the Volleyball Challenge begin at 10 A.M. with the tournament starting at 12:30 P.M.

Our Sailors may come from many nationalities, but on Saturday everyone is Irish. The Navy will serve as the Grand Marshal of the annual St. Patrick's Day parade. Come out an cheer as our admiral, Sailors, Sea Cadets and band go marching by.

8:00 a.m. Sailor in the Spotlight / ABC 15
Tune in this morning to find out what’s going on during the Tampa Bay Navy Week. LT Dave Hecht, the Tampa Bay Navy Week coordinator, will be live on ABC 15 to talk about all the festivities. He’ll also have a live sneak peak at the Navy Flight Simulator and introduce you to some members of the Navy Parachute Team.
10:00 a.m. Navy Water Polo Challenge / North Shore Aquatic Complex, St. Petersburg
Come out and cheer on the Navy as we take on the Tampa Bay Thunder Water Polo Club. The club made be more experienced at water polo but our team is made up of Navy SEALs and SWCCs! The guys are all members of the world famous Navy Parachute Team, the Leap Frogs. The Mayor of St. Petersburg will also be on hand to issue an official Navy Week proclamation. After the match, free to talk with the Leap Frogs about what it takes to be a Special Operator in the Navy.

The world famous Navy Parachute Team, the Leap Frogs, will be on hand to officially start the 2010 Live Your Vision Health Walk. But before everyone hits the pavement, the team will lead the crowd in a pre-walk stretch. Have fun and we’ll see you at the finish line.

Navy divers have one of the most amazing jobs in the United States military. From salvage operations to underwater ship repairs, these Sailors see it all and today is your chance to see them in their natural environment; under the water. Stop by the Clearwater Marine Aquarium and learn how they're keeping the water safe for the creatures that call the ocean home.

11:15 a.m. - 1:15 p.m. Tampa Proclamation Ceremony / Lykes Gaslight Square Park
Want a little "jam" to go with your lunch? Then join us in Lykes Gaslight Square Park for a free concert by Navy band Pride. During the concert, Tampa city officials will arrive to officially declare March 15th through the 21st "Tampa Bay Navy Week." This will also be a great opportunity for the people of Tampa to shake hands with some hometown heroes, crewmembers from USS FLORIDA.

Before the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Philadelphia Phillies take the field today, the world famous Navy Parachute Team, the Leap Frogs, will be hitting a homerun with the fans. Come out to McKechnie Field in Bradenton and watch the Leap Frogs as they skydive onto the field.

Photos by Mass Communications Specialist Petty Officer 1st Class Monica Nelson taken during her recent deployment to Afghanistan will be the focus of a gallery exhibit at the International Academy of Design & Technology. These photos focus on a little seen aspect of the war in Afghanistan; humanitarian relief. From 6-7PM will be an invitation only premier with the exhibit open to the general public at 7PM when MC1 Nelson discusses her photographs in the school's lecture auditorium.

Students at the Academy Prep Center of Tampa will get a visit today by two groups of Sailors; the Navy Parachute Team and the crew of USS FLORIDA. Just before a question and answer session, the kids will watch the new Navy documentary, At Sea. Kids, have plenty of questions ready!
9:30 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. Navy Seals & Navy Submariners at Academy Prep Center
Students at the Academy Prep Center of Tampa will learn firsthand that the Navy doesn't just serve on oceans around the world. Sailors who serve as skydivers and Sailors who serve on submarines will be spending part of their morning with the kids. The lecture will include amazing video presentations about what its like to be a Navy SEAL or a member of the submarine's silent service. Kids, start thinking about your questions!

Our Navy Week admiral will be featured as the guest speaker at today's meeting of the Tampa Rotary Club. He will be joined by the crew of USS FLORIDA.
2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Caps for Kids / St. Joseph's Hospital
Young patients at St. Joseph's Hospital will be getting a surprise visit today from Sailors in the US Navy. But that's not all they'll get. Each patient will also get an official US Navy ship ball cap and hear a performance by our rock band, "Pride."

4:00 p.m. - 5:30p.m. You sunk my Battleship - PGA style / Innisbrook Resort
Remember the game Battleship? A pair of PGA golfers will be playing the game, but with a slight twist. This version involves drivers, golf balls and a pair of giant Battleship silhouettes more than 200 yards away. First golfer to hit the other golfers Battleship three times wins. Before the battle begins, the pair will be leading Navy Sailors in a driving clinic.

Photography students at the International Academy of Design & Technology will have a chance to meet and talk with a professional photographer with an uncommon perspective on the field of photo journalism. Mass Communications Specialist Petty Officer 1st Class Monica Nelson is a combat veteran who just completed a tour of duty in Afghanistan. Her pictures have been picked up by media worldwide. Following an invitation only dinner with students, MC1 Nelson will be conducting an open lecture at the International Academy of Design & Technology from 6-8 p.m.

Before the action begins on the ice, the Navy will be in the spotlight as one of our talented Sailors performs the National Anthem with an all Navy Color Guard at her side. A Sailor will also drop a ceremonial puck to begin the game.

The Skipper and crew of USS FLORIDA will be meeting the next generation of Naval officers when they head to USF. The NROTC will play host to a meet and greet with the boat's CO and several members of USS FLORIDA's enlisted crew.

The World Series champs know what it takes to be a winner which is why they decided to team up with the U.S. Navy. Come out to Steinbrenner Field tonight to hear our rock band Pride, see a jump by the Navy Leap Frogs and watch our admiral throw out the opening pitch. Who knows, you just might end up sitting next to a Blue Angels pilot! It's Navy Night with the New York Yankees!

Navy Band Southeast’s Contemporary Entertainment Ensemble Prideis a high-energy unit with a repertoire of hits spanning 50 years. Today the band will be entertaining the students at the University of Tampa.
12:00 p.m - 10:00p.m. "Pride" concert / Free Tours / Channelside
Navy band Pride will be rockin' Channelside Bay Plaza with a free outdoor concert from 6-9PM. While you're listening to the band, check out the 87' Coast Guard vessel that's open for free tours starting at 12:00. The Coast Guard will also be doing a Search and Rescue (SAR) demonstration right there at Channelside from aboard one of their helicopters. You can also take a free tour aboard the Tampa Fire Department's fireboat and the S.S. American Victory. After you tour the Historic World War II ship, take a spin in our Navy Simulator that will be parked next to the S.S. American Victory. This is one trip to Channelside you'll never forget.
3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Past, Present & Future Tour / Armed Forces Military Museum

Museums traditionally display artifacts from the past, but checking those artifacts out today will be members of the US Navy's past, present and future. On hand today for a VIP tour will be Navy veterans, current Sailors and members of the Sea Cadet program. Stop out and meet the crew of USS FLORIDA and take advantage of the museum's reduced admission prices for Navy vets.

5:00 p.m. Forum: From Pearl Harbor to the Present / USF
An educational forum, this is the perfect event for you military history buffs and fans of the US Navy. Vice Admiral Samuel Locklear will moderate this conversational forum which will discuss the many ways the US Navy and its role has evolved from World War II to the present. Following the 30 minute panel discussion, we’ll premier a brand new documentary called, At Sea. Following the film, Vice Admiral Locklear will be available to answer your questions. The forum will take place at USF in the C.W. Bill Young Hall auditorium.
5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Bowling for Sailors / Splitsville
Come down to Channelside for a great opportunity to meet a Sailor and have a little fun in the process. Splitsville is the place to be for “Bowling for Sailors.” If you allow a Sailor to bowl with your group, your group will qualify for a special discount. It’s a great way to have a ball with the Navy.
