USS OKLAHOMA CITY (SSN 723) Namesake Crew To Visit During OKC Navy Week
USS Oklahoma City (SSN-723), a Los Angeles-class fast attack submarine, was the second ship of the United States Navy to be named for Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

The USS Oklahoma City recently returned from a six month deployment in the Arabian Gulf in support of the Global War on Terror. Upon their return from a successful deployment and as a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire crew, they were tasked to conduct a Western Pacific deployment in support of the War on Drugs. The USS Oklahoma City, along with several other government agencies, was directly responsible for the capture of over 11 metric tons of illicit narcotics. These two successful deployments lead to the recognition of Commander Submarine Squadron 8, who awarded them with the Submarine Squadron 8 Battle Efficiency “E” for the top ship within the squadron for 2008.

In 2008, CDR Aaron M. Thieme reported as the Commanding Officer.
