The 2010 Milwaukee Navy Week Schedule of Events, June 7-13

All of the detailed events with dates, times and locations are open to the public unless otherwise noted. Please be aware that all dates and times can change with little notice due to operational schedules and other factors. Please check this schedule frequently for any changes.

10:00 a.m.  Milwaukee County Navy Week Proclamation
Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker issues a proclamation declaring June 7th-13th as Navy Week in Milwaukee.  Rear Adm. Gerald Beaman, Navy Flag Officer Host of Milwaukee Navy Week, will accept the proclamation from County Executive Walker in Mr. Walker's Office.

11:00 a.m - 7:00 p.m. Free Interactive Navy Exerience Simulator at Discovery World Museum
Get real-life Navy experience!  The Navy Tour, free and open to the public, gives you the opportunity to get a fisrthand look at Navy life with Navy video footage, video games, and 180 degree Immersa-Domes. 

11:30 a.m -12:30 p.m. Harley-Davidson Museum Tour
Rear Adm. Gerald Beaman, Navy Flag Officer Host of Milwaukee Navy Week, will tour the Harley-Davidson Museum.

1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.Visit with Veterans
Rear Adm. Gerald Beaman, Navy Flag Officer Host of Milwaukee Navy Week, visits with veterans of all branches of the Armed Forces at Milwaukee's Veterans Administration Hospital.

2:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Caps for Kids / American Family Childrens Hospital
Young patients  will be getting a surprise visit today from Sailors in the US Navy.  But that's not all they'll get.  Each patient will also get an official US Navy ship ball cap. (Event not open to the public)

3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Marquette University Celebrates Navy Week
Rear Adm. Gerald Beaman, Navy Flag Officer Host of Milwaukee Navy Week, and 1974 Marquette University graduate, dedicates the Navy Week display in the Marquette University  Alumni Memorial Union.  Included in the display will be a flight suit worn by Beaman, an F-14 TOP GUN fighter pilot and Operation Desert Storm combat veteran.

9:30 a.m.   Rear Adm. Gerald Beaman will visit DRS Power and Control Technolgies
He also will meet with Executive Leadership, tour the newly-renovated facility, and meet with all hands.  DRS Power & Control Technologies supplies critical equipment to Navy vessels, including the USS Freedom, PCU Fort Worth, and the entire Virgina class of attack submarines. Due to company security, this event is not open to the public.

11:00 a.m - 5:00 p.m. Free Interactive Navy Exerience Simulator at Discovery World Museum

11:00a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Free Flight Simulator at Discovery World Museum
Experience for yourself what it feels like to be in the cockpit of an F/A -18 Fighter Jet!

12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. Rear Adm. Beaman Keynote Address to the Navy League
Rear Adm. Gerald Beaman, Navy Flag Officer Host of Milwaukee Navy Week, issues the keynote address - "The Maritime Strategy and its Impact on Milwaukee" - to the Milwaukee Chapter of the Navy League of the United States at the Milwaukee Yacht Club.

3:00 - 4:00 p.m. Meet a Real Milwaukee Admiral!
No, we are not talking about a hockey player.  Rear Adm. Gerald Beaman, Navy Flag Officer Host of Milwaukee Navy Week and 1974 Marquette University graduate, will be at Discovery World Museum to answer your questions about the United States Navy and the National Maritime Strategy.

5:00 p.m. Navy Rock Band Horizon at Miller Park
The Sailor suits aren't a gimic, those are active duty Navy musicians up there on stage performing modern hits as well as classic rock favorites. Enjoy the music on your way into the game.

6:00 p.m . Navy Night at Miller Park
Come to Miller park and cheer on the Milwaukee Brewers takas they take the field against their prime rival, the Chicago Cubs.  Rear Adm. Gerald Beaman will throw out the first pitch and a Navy Honor Guard will present the colors

6:30 p.m. Navy Great Lakes Ceremonial Band at Humboldt Park
The standard repertoire of this traditional military ceremonial unit comprised of 22 musicians includes well-known marches and patriotic music.

10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Meet Navy Sailors!
This is a great opportunity to meet with real Navy Sailors and hear firsthand the mission, capabilities, and achievements of YOUR Navy at West Town Farmer's Market.

11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. The Olympics Comes to Milwaukee
The DEP Olympics, that is. Come cheer on Sailors to be who are in the Navy's Delayed Entrance Program as they compete against each other at Discovery World in events  designed to  foster  teamwork and dedication, two significant personality traits these young men and women will need to be successful in the Navy.

11:00a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Free Flight Simulator at Discovery World Museum
Experience for yourself what it feels like to be in the cockpit of an F/A -18 Fighter Jet!

11:45 a.m. - 1:45 p.m. Enjoy a free concert by the band "Horizon"
"Horizon" is a seven piece contemporary music ensemble whose members are active duty Navy Sailors stationed at Great Lakes.  "Horizon" performs top 40 hits, classical rock, Motown, country, funk, and jazz. They will be perfoming at the West Town Farmer's Market.

12:00 p.m. Rear Adm. Beaman speaks at Kiwanis meeting
Rear Adm. Gerald Beaman will provide the keynote address at the weekly Downtown Kiwanis meeting.  This event is only open to Kiwanis members.

4:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Navy Rock Band Horizon
Get a taste of what tonight's performance will be like courtesy of this mini-concert

7:00 p.m. Navy Rock Band Horizon
There is no better way to celebrate the official start of the last half of the work week (or school week) than by totally rocking out at a truly epic performance by the Navy's premier Midwest Rock Band.

Words cannot describe the feeling of exhilaration expereinced by those viewing a breathtaking performance by the Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron - the world famous "Blue Angels".  This is your opportunity to capture that feeling.

10:00 a.m - 7:00 p.m. Free Interactive Navy Exerience Simulator at North Point Park
Get real-life Navy experience!  The Navy Tour, free and open to the public, gives you the opportunity to get a fisrthand look at Navy life with Navy video footage, video games, and 180 degree Immersa-Domes. 

6:00 p.m. Navy Rock Band Horizon Performance Outside the Bradley Center
This is your last opportunity to witness a performance by the Midwes's premier Navy Rock Band during Navy Week.

TBA Navy Parachute Team Leap Frogs Performance
The U.S. Navy Parachute Team is a fifteen-man team comprised entirely of U.S. Navy SEAL and SWCC commandos. The parachute team began in 1969 when Navy SEALs and Frogmen volunteered to perform at weekend air shows. A typical Leap Frogs performance consists of fourteen jumpers leaping out of an aircraft at an altitude of 12,500 feet. During free fall, jumpers reach speeds of 120 mph and can accelerate up to 180 mph by pulling their arms to their sides and straightening their legs into what is called a "track." After deploying their chutes, the Leap Frogs fly their canopies together to build dramatic canopy-relative work formations.

The Leap Frogs are renowned for exciting and complex formations such as downplanes, sideplanes, dragplanes, diamonds, big stacks, tri-by-sides, and T formations

Cheer on the Milwaukee Iron as they battle for gridiron supremacy against the Cleveland Gladiators.

Throughout the 2010 Milwaukee Navy Week, our Flag Officer's and other special guests will do presentations and make visits to various local schools, hospitals and other civic organizations.
