Detroit Navy Week 2011, in conjunction with Thunder Over Michigan Air Show, will be packed with events demonstrating the mission of the U.S. Navy and our proud heritage. These events will include:
- Namesake crew visit,
- Blue Angels,
- Navy Band,
- Navy Suburban Tour,
- Navy Simulator

The goal of every Navy Week is to give area residents an opportunity to meet some of the Navy's Sailors and learn about the Navy's critical missions and its broad ranging capabilities.

Rear Adm. John E. Jolliffe, and Rear Adm. John "Chris" Sadler will serve as our leading spokespeople for Detroit Navy Week 2011. Also participating are Sailors with significant ties to the local area."

YOKOSUKA, Japan (March 8, 2011) - Capt. David A. Lausman, commanding officer of the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73) (2nd on left) and Commander, Naval Air Forces Vice Adm. Allen G. Myers (far right) pose for a group photo with six Michigan-born Sailors from George Washington. The six Sailors will be in Detroit July 18-24 to participate in the Detroit Navy Week where they will educate their local community about life aboard the Navy's only permanently forward deployed aircraft carrier.
