Des Moines Navy Week 2009 is packed with events demonstrating the mission of the Navy and our proud heritage. These events include Navy Band Great Lakes "Horizon"performances, SEAL Accelerator, and a Navy Flyover all intent to give the public a personal look at the men and women of the Navy serving throughout the world in different roles.

Rear Admiral Michael T. Franken, Deputy Director, Strategy, Plans and Policy
United States Central Command, is serving as our spokesperson. In addition to RADM Franken, there are guest appearances from Lt. Andrew Baldwin, M.D., of the Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery and formerly of the ABC TV series
"The Bachelor," and other outstanding local Sailors.

Des Moines Navy Week is anchored around the 100th running of the Drake Relays at Drake University. The relays are the second largest and longest running Pro/Am, Division I and III track meet in the U.S.
